Established in 1982 under the divine blessings of Sant Baba Ranjit Singh Ji Mullowal, Desh Bhagat College, Bardwal (Dhuri) has emerged as a distinguished center of higher learning in the Sangrur district of Punjab. Dedicated to empowering rural youth, the college serves students from over 50 villages, offering quality education enriched with values, vision, and vitality.
The college offers a broad and dynamic academic portfolio with 11 undergraduate, 8 postgraduate, and 1 Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) programmes across the disciplines of Computer Science, Commerce, Management, Science, and Humanities. With a current enrolment of approximately 3000 students, including 1600 female learners, the institution stands as a testament to inclusive education and gender empowerment.
The Central Library is the intellectual foundation of the college, housing an impressive collection of reference books, encyclopedias, biographies, national and international journals, as well as daily newspapers and magazines in Punjabi, English, and Hindi. In line with digital advancement, the library offers seamless access to a vast repository of e-journals and e-books through INFLIBNET, supporting both academic pursuits and research innovation.
Beyond academics, the college places strong emphasis on the holistic development of its students. Various units and clubs—including NCC, NSS, Youth Club & Red Ribbon Club, along with co-curricular and sports activities—foster leadership, discipline, creativity, and a spirit of social responsibility.
The college annually publishes its magazine, Erudite, providing a vibrant platform for students to express their literary and artistic talents. In the domain of research and scholarship, the college takes pride in its publication of INSIGHT: An International Journal of Humanities and Management, which encourages faculty and researchers to contribute to global academic discourse.
Furthering its commitment to accessible education, the college also hosts a Distance Learning Library Centre of Punjabi University, Patiala, facilitating academic support for students enrolled in correspondence programs.
