It is both an honour and a matter of deep personal pride to share my thoughts as the Secretary of Desh Bhagat College Bardwal Trust (Regd.) Dhuri. -an institution I have had the privilege of serving since its very foundation in 1982.
As someone who hails from this very soil, I have witnessed the transformation of a dream into a dignified reality. In an era when higher education was a distant aspiration for many in rural Punjab especially Sangrur district, this college emerged as a lighthouse of learning — built not with bricks alone, but with hope, commitment, and collective will.
We started with modest means but high ideals, and today, Desh Bhagat College stands tall as one of the most respected institutions of higher education in the region. What makes me most proud
is that even in its progress, the college has stayed true to its values — ensuring accessible, affordable, and quality education for students, especially those from villages and underrepresented backgrounds.
I have seen generations pass through these corridors — children of farmers, daily-wage workers, and simple households — who are now serving as professionals, educators, entrepreneurs, and civil servants across the country and abroad. This, to me, is the true success of an institution.
To the students: never forget your roots. Knowledge will give you wings, but values will give you direction. Use your time wisely. Respect your teachers. Stay humble in success and strong in adversity.
Let us continue to nurture this temple of learning with dedication, sincerity, and a shared sense of purpose.
